Essay on The United Nations Organization (UNO)

 The United Nations Organization (UNO)


     The UNO is the largest international organization. The full form of the UNO is United Nation Organization. It is shortly called UN or United Nations. It tries to maintain peace, justice and freedom in all the countries of the world. It was formally set up in October 1945. it is the association of sovereign countries of the world. At the beginning, 51 countries were its founder members, now there more than 185 member countries.
     The UNO was established to meet some objectives. The UNO charter has mentioned the following objectives:

  1. To maintain international peace and security.

  2. To promote friendly relations among nations on the basis of equal rights and self-determination of peoples.

  3. To achieve international co-operation in solving various problems. and

  4. To promote respect for human rights, dignity and freedom.

     The UNO has its some institutional organs. They are the general Trusteeship Council, the International Court of justice and the secretariat. The general Assembly of all the member countries is held once a year. It is the most powerful organ of the organization. Security Council has 5 permanent countries and other 10 members are periodically elected after each two years. Economic and Social Council consists of 54 elected members. The international court of justice consists of 15 judges who are elected for nine years by the General Assembly. The secretariat has its Chief Administrative Officer and other officials.

     there are 14 specialized agencies of the UNO. they are World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization (  FAO), International Labour Organization (ILO), International Finance Co-operation (IFC), International Development Association (IDA), United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nation Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and so on. These agencies are working for the well being of all the countries of the world.

     the UNO plays an important role in the world. Although Some efforts of its are criticized, it is general, doing well in maintain peace, security and justice in the world.
